Excellence
CKRM Trust.
The legacy of Late Sri C. K. Raghavan, a visionary social educator and humanitarian, continues to inspire generations through his unwavering commitment to educational and social transformation. Embodying the vision and ideals of Sree Narayana Guru in both thought and action, Late Sri C. K. Raghavan dedicated his life to the empowerment of marginalized communities through education and social service. Deeply concerned about the upliftment of socially and economically disadvantaged communities, particularly Dalit and tribal students, he devoted his life to promoting inclusive and equitable education in Wayanad, one of Kerala’s prominent tribal districts.
In 1976, with a vision to provide quality education to marginalized sections of society, Late Sri C. K. Raghavan established Jayasree Government Aided Upper Primary School at Kalanadikolly in Pulpally Grama Panchayat, Wayanad District, Kerala. The institution was upgraded to a Secondary School in 1982 and further elevated to a Higher Secondary School in 2000, thereby widening access to education for rural and tribal communities. Following the demise of Sri C. K. Raghavan in 1994, his noble vision was carried forward by his wife, V. J. Kamalakshi Teacher, along with their children, K. R. Jayasree, K. R. Jayaram, and K. R. Jayaraj. In order to preserve his ideals and perpetuate his lifelong mission of service through education, they established the CK Raghavan Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust in 2001.
The Trust resolved to dedicate its efforts primarily to the educational advancement and holistic development of tribal students in Wayanad district. As part of this commitment, the Trust established the CK Raghavan Memorial College of Teacher Education (B.Ed.) in 2005, followed by the Teacher Training Institute (TTC) in 2007. Extending its mission into higher education, the Trust founded Jayasree Arts and Science College, affiliated with the University of Calicut, in 2015. With a special focus on the welfare of tribal children, the Trust established separate Tribal Boys’ and Girls’ Hostels attached to Jayasree Higher Secondary School in 2023. These hostels represent a pioneering initiative, being the first non-government tribal hostels in Wayanad district. During the academic year 2026–2027, nearly 350 tribal students are residing in these hostels and pursuing their education. The institutions under the Trust have consistently promoted academic excellence and holistic development. A remarkable achievement was recorded in the academic year 2025–2026, when tribal students secured a 100 percent pass rate in the SSLC Examination. The Trust also conducts a variety of programmes aimed at personality development, leadership training, life skills education, value-based learning, and co-curricular enrichment for the overall development of tribal students. Today, under the dynamic leadership of Sri K. R. Jayaram, Chairman and Managing Trustee, and Sri K. R. Jayaraj, Secretary and Principal of Jayasree Higher Secondary School, the Trust continues to uphold the ideals envisioned by its founder. Through its enduring commitment to educational excellence and social responsibility, the Trust has emerged as a beacon of hope and empowerment for tribal communities in Wayanad and beyond.
